Hi, I'm Mae McGraw

In Bitter Medicine, Mae McGraw transports readers back in time to post Civil War America to follow the exploits of Katie Harris.

Mae McGraw is the pen name for Kim Wuescher, who lives in Medina, Ohio, with her husband, Rick. They have two adult children Christian and Diane. Her first career was teaching AP and Senior English at a public high school, where she shared her love of literature with her students. More recently, American history has become her passion..

She enjoys traveling to Civil War sites around the country for pleasure and research, where she digs deep to learn about the times and the people, creating a suspenseful novel of historical accuracy. When not writing or traveling, she takes time to play golf and read historical mysteries. If she’s not in Ohio, you’ll find her anywhere near the blue waters of Michigan with family and friends.

Kim Wuescher is president of the Northeast Ohio chapter of Sisters in Crime, a mystery writers and readers’ organization. She is also a member of the Great Lakes Fiction Writers, Literary Cleveland, and the Medina County Historical Society, where she learned more about Medina’s role during the Civil War. With its close access to Lake Erie and Canada, Medina was instrumental in the underground railroad, so discovering this was the spark to learning more about the Civil War period. Bitter Medicine is the result, her debut novel and first in a series.
